Re: What Kind of Cable to Buy and Where to Buy It.
The serial number of FTDI chips can be overwritten by the FT_PROG utility .
As far as I know genuine IDs start with "FT" followed by 6 alphanumeric characters. See this KB article.
The KB article only says "a 2-letter prefix like FT". It appears that the prefix can be any two characters. The ...

Re: RMIR v3.2 Major new release!
that folder seems to have accidentally been dropped starting with v3.2.13, if you download versions v3.2.0 and before, it's there
I have traced the omission to a change of computer used for building RMIR versions. I have fixed this in the new computer so JP1_Arduino.ino will now get included ...

Sorry about that. I will restore it in the next build.
I have spent some time in the last few days trying to find what I thought was a bug. Something in the setup of ...

Re: What Kind of Cable to Buy and Where to Buy It.
Can you tell the difference between a genuine FTDI chip and a clone by looking at it? I have a SparkFun FT232R Breakout Board, the chip clearly says FTDI FT232RL but I have doubts that it is genuine. In my current work with a URC7981, I have tried all the FTDI USB to Serial cables I have. These ...

Glad to hear it! It is a long time since I used those Bluetooth extenders, so nice to know they still work and are useful. I am still working on the URC7981 and have today started on a new line of attack which I think is promising.

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
I have seem Extenders in v1 and v2 here in the filebase. It is written that v1 works with BLED-Dongle whereas v2 is described to work with Windows Driver. I wonder if v2 is also still compatible with the BLED-Dongle?
Yes, v2 extends the capabilities of v1. You need to install v1 then use it to ...

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
Just to keep you informed, in the past few days I have made significant progress in understanding the processor of the URC7981. Nowhere near enough to make it work with RMIR but helpful nevertheless. I see that you have moved to a URC7880 but I am working on the URC7981 for my own interest as it is ...

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
I wrote above about the URC-7981 that I was trying to open the remote but having great difficulty. I persisted and finally succeeded. I have soldered in the 6-pin connector in the "standard" way that Rob described. The pins are then a tiny bit too long to easily close the battery compartment, though ...

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
Very interesting. However they soldered the pins, they must have accessed the back of the PCB. I am currently trying to open the remote but having great difficulty. Following 3FG's instructions for the 7980, I have been able to get as far as releasing the lowest clip on each side, the ones nearest ...

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
As you know, there are two possible ways for RMIR to interact with the URC-7981. One is with Bluetooth, the other is with the 6-pin connector. Both present considerable problems. The Bluetooth access is designed for use with the OfA Advanced Setup phone app, not for general Bluetooth access, and ...

Re: Actual OneForAll Smart Control Pro Remotes (URC 7981 / URC 7985) useable with RemoteMaster
I have installed the OFA Advanced app on my Android phone and will get a URC 7981 so that I can investigate this. It looks identical to the URC 7980, which I have. However, the 7980 is not supported by the OFA Advanced app but it does have the 6-pin connector fitted. I do not like either soldering ...

Please try development build RMIR v3.2.13 which I have just posted in the RMIR Development folder on SourceForge. I think this should solve the issue.

Re: RMIR Xsight Support
Apologies for not dealing with this sooner, but I have been absent from the forum while recovering from a broken pelvis. I have now posted development build 12 in the RMIR Development folder on SourceForge which is my best attempt to resolve the problem. Here is an explanation.
