Sorry that could of been clearer.

Checksum With /2 - Able to upload some, but not with a keymove configured.

Checksum without /2 - Able to upload, even with a keymove. Keymove doesn't do anything, but the upload works.

At this point I would say you are correct in removing the /2.

Thanks Rob. I was able to do some programming with the /2 checksum, but as noted unable to program a keymove.

With the correct checksum it does at least let me program the keymove via RMIR, but so far it doesn't appear to work unfortunately.

Still testing. :)

No problem. The least I can do is provide what's requested! :)

I'll try to put this through its paces. The only manual programming listed in booklet (and others found online) is a 978 code for setting Key Punch Through. Haven't been able to make that work via remote, though CPT and VPT via RMIR ...

Ah, I seem to have tricked myself. Apparently using power button wasn't best option to test with. For some reason I was able to power on/off TV in STB device, thinking I had done it via keymove. I seem unable to program any keymoves with 994 or RMIR.

Thanks. Key move tab did appear. 994 Key move did not show up. I was able to program a device with *$0000:$0002..$0BFF/2 checksum.

After reset and device upgrade success. I tried to program a keymove with RMIR, and was unsuccessful.

I have uploaded an raw file with keymove programmed on remote ...

Thanks, indeed I did try jumping straight to programming a device. All macro and buttons look good. I believe the key move worked on remote, but I don't see the key move tab in RMIR that I've seen with my other remote, so not sure if it's showing up. Is there something I need to do to enable that ...

I might be doing something wrong, as I am still relatively new with RMIR, but having issues. The upgrade doesn't seem to be uploading to the remote.

My sequence of steps:
Remote 981 MFR Reset (disconnected from JP1 cable)
Using newly launched RMIR (2.11b1) -> Download from remote
Devices > New ...

Interesting. The first couple bytes change with a program change (new device code). My non-remote knowledge makes it seem like some sort of checksum.

No problem! I understand technical requirements. :)

And how embarrassing. They were the same code because that was the 993 signature blink back. I have done a reset and programmed new codes and saved the raw along with correct 990 blink back. Available here:

356904 URC-4031 RDF Request

My brother in law works for a Fiber/TV company that gives these out. JP1 6-pin header ready.

I have uploaded everything (I think) as requested by sticky thread. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.

Thank you!

I'm sorry just realised I had a typo in my pinout. I have DTR connected to Pin 2 of remote. Nothing connected to pin 5.

Oh, also when doing the test, I can see the remote Blink twice at the end. I believe this is signaling the remote being taken out of comm mode?

Wow, I can't believe I didn't post more information then that. That's what you get for staying up too late working on things.

Anyways, the interface cable is an FTDI serial->USB adapter. This is my first foray into JP1 remotes. It is wired as follows:

FTDI----------Remote
TXD----------->Pin4
GND ...

RCA RCRP05B Null Signature

Jp1xtest reports the following:

Code: Select all

jp1xtest version 0.00

*** FOUND A JP1.2/3 COMPATIBLE REMOTE ON ! ***
Signature is (null)

Memory size is $0000 (0)
Can't get RMIR to download from the device. Is my remote fried?
