It looks like my post got bumped ;)
I guess I should give an update with what I ended up doing. I tried using Arduino/Girs with LIRC for quick integration with openHAB. I don't think that sending worked at all and the receiving worked but would flake out after a time. I gave up on that in short ...

Thanks for the information. I just ordered a couple Arduinos to try out with Girs!
I was a little vague with my question because I did not want my current choice of HA system to influence the answers. Right now I am using openHAB on a Pi 4 with some home-brew IR components hanging off of the GPIO ...

What device are you using to send and receive IR signals?
...for Home Automation
Currently I use a Raspberry Pi 4, LIRC and some cobbled together IR receiver & transmitter components hanging off the GPIO pins. LIRC is used to decode several dozen different NEC1 button presses to trigger HA actions and also used to send out a few IR commands (turn on/of ...

Yamaha extended ir codes
Does anyone know where to currently find a PDF or similar of the extended IR codes specific to each model Yamaha AVR? All of the links to Yamaha's site that I find are many years old and return a 404. Maybe they have locked them up behind a CI/dealer portal?

Ditto the recommendation for the Inteset 422-3. They are nice remotes and the Firestick IR adapter that they sell is a clever accessory.

I took apart a new-to-me MX-900 recently to add the button repair keymat. When testing the remote, I noticed that the RF feature was not working. Upon taking the remote apart, the radio transmitter circuit board fell off the main PCB. It had been attached with standoff pins that had legs like an SMD ...

Yep that about sums it up. I am trying to control three different zones of my Nuvo WHA system (Family Room, Kitchen and Deck) from my MX-990. There is no system level IR control, only an IR sensor on each keypad which won't always be in the line of sight of the remote. So the only way to do it is ...

pre-made lirc config file for automation controller
Is there a preferred set of codes to use for LIRC on a home automation controller? I need about 75 unique IR codes in my OpenHab setup to run various commands. I though about just picking a random NEC1 device code and generating a bunch of signals in IrScrutinizer and exporting each one into LIRC ...

Thanks for the replies. The Inteset 422 looks pretty cool for $25 and the interface options that they have for streaming devices is intriguing. I went ahead and purchased one to try out. I like that it looks very similar to a cable box remote and the buttons are not on top of each other. If it works ...
