Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

It is the first one in your list that I was referencing at $15.29 and free shipping. Condition is listed as “new in opened retail packaging”. If all of that is accurate and it really is equivalent to a URC-3680, it appears to be a decent option.

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

I've now added a seventh device to my NS-RMT8D21, and given it a thorough test. I can confirm that the method I described above can be used to transfer setups between the various remotes in this family. Everything is working great.

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

I would ideally like to load my URC-3661 setup into it, but I don't think that's possible and I might have to do it from scratch. We'll see.

Actually you can and I have!! I tried the following.

I copied the "preamble" in the RMIR file from the default NS-RMT8D21 which is this:

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

I finally managed to get a genuine Insignia NS-RMT8D21 from Ebay UK from a Chinese supplier. It arrived this morning. So far all I've done with it is to put some batteries in and download its default contents using RMIR. It cost me £23.77 (UK money) including postage. Yes I've seen cheaper headline ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

davecs, try searching One-For-All Essential 8 antimicrobial universal remote.

You can't get the URC-3680 in the UK unless you pay silly money to have it sent from the USA. Or, in its other guise as Insignia NS-RMT8D21, which I'm getting sent from China. Locally we can get the European version ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

When I asked my seller if he could now dispatch a NS-RMT8D21, he said there were none left. All of a sudden, all the RMT8D21's disappeared from Ebay, except one. With this one, the trader is charging twice as much as the others, but it's still coming from China and so I wouldn't have to pay the ...

I doubt the seller actually has the RMT8D21
So Lesson learned, and I have another remote
My seller has now given me a 100% refund. I don't think that Ebay's system allowed for a 50% refund. So I can't complain.

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

Obviously a minor bug, but I think I've got it. I started off by downloading the empty remote to RMIR — and I just noticed that as I was working on it, no "Disable Activities". So what I did was to do a "New" with RMT5D21 and Disable Activities was there! So I saved the file I was working on, and ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

Mine has no more RMT8D21 so I am also stuck with the RMT5D21. I am having an issue with RMIR with it though. The option "Disable Activities" under the Advanced menu is not appearing. I thought that it ought to if the whole family of remotes are essentially the same. Is it an error in the RDF file? I ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

The trader has offered a 50% refund and I keep the RMT5D21. I suggested that, instead, he sells me a RMT8D21 at half price but he takes action to ensure that the right one is sent this time. We'll see what he says when he gets back to me.

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

I could try that, but I disable the Activities keys and use them for startup macros on the 3661 (essentially the same as the 3660 with slight variations for Europe). For example, the TV activity switches on my TV set and my Receiver. The film activity switches those on and also my DVD/BluRay player ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

Oh, dear! The remote I ordered arrived today but it was not an NS-RMT8D21, it was an NS-RMT5D21. The good news is that I downloaded it into RMIR and the JP1 interface and it's correctly recognised as such. I've messaged the trader to try to get the correct one. I have a URC3661 with 6 device buttons ...

Re: Current JP1 remotes: URC-3660 and URC-3680

I might do that, then compare them directly, and see what the difference is and whether it might be useful — I can post it if it is.

If you load a URC3661 rmdu file into the rmdu app, and convert it to a NS-RMT8D21 file, you have to reallocate some keys purely due to the different labelling in ...
