Thanks everyone. I decided it would be best to just use the 8810 to learn all the codes from the new Sony20 protocol Nyko Ps3 Blu Wave Model 83041-P37 (release date 2010) (equipped with new body style & PS3 IR dongle). I opened the file containing old style Nyko Blu Wave that used the NECx protocol ...

2010 vers of Nyko Blu Wave with sony20 protocol
I just received my new Nyko Blu Wave remote for the PS3 and loaded in the upgrade to my URC 8810 from the file section here. Thought I did something wrong because it wouldn't work. I tried everything and decided to start learning codes off the Nyko. I am up to 8 keys now and they are not the NEC but ...

Success!!!
I finally made it down to Costco to buy a new AAA battery supply stock and today I installed fresh new batteries in the 8810. Still nothing worked trying to download from the JP1 interface and I still received the same old various errors in IR.exe. Tried both the parallel JP1 interface on computer B ...

URC-8810 fails with USB - other JP1 remotes OK - ideas?
I just pulled out my USB to JP1 connector from storage for the past 7 years. This is my second computer I owned since I last used it. I downloaded all the most recent files and fired up the IR.EXE. I had programed this very 8810 with this USB device some 7 years ago but the buttons are wearing out ...

thank you. I managed to get it apart with your help. I decided to go with removing the plastic frame to start the solder work, but found there are small guide pins from it that go through the PC board. I managed to get one of them pushed back through but not without breaking the others :-(.

How do I remove the cover of a URC9960B01
Oh my, has it really been 10 years since I last programmed a JP1 remote? Maybe so! I have reached a point in age that learning is no longer a goal, as it escapes soon after entering these days, but lets get back to it as I learn how to do this all over again, at least for the moment :-O

P.S. I didn't realize the response would be so quick here!!! Before I came back and read the response, I remembered having a stock 15-1994 that I had put back in a closet and used the pin-out of that (nicely labeled on the board). With it and like you say, with the latest USB cable assembly from ...
