URC 8910 Extender breaks keymoves. Why?

Post by pogo »

I've been pretty proud of how much I've learned and accomplished up to now by just reading, but I'm up a stump now. I've come to the point where I need to use an extender to create some macros I think I need. However when I create my (up to now) working upgrades in IR using the 8910 extender my key moves no longer work. I have a feeling that there's something about the extender that I've missed? I've posted my broken file:

The extender didn't break your keymoves, 'cause it isn't there

I don't see any extender code, extender protocol $180 isn't in this file, various special protocols that are bundled in this extender aren't in the file and the prebuilt macros to operate the devices in default mode are also missing.

IR window title does indicate the extender but that's an insufficient trace. Could you try again and put your Sony upgrade and the lone Sony protocol into a fresh extender file, read the extender docs, especially the section about what must be intact and the section about predefined macros.

Thanks so much for the response. As usual the answer is obvious as soon as someone points it out, but not so easy when you're locked into the wrong path. I'll let you know how it comes out, but you've already pointed me to what went wrong. As I suspected I simply failed to understand the extender even though a I thought I had read the docs. I will write on the board 100 times "Read the Docs!"
