URC 8910 old or new?

Post by davefo »

Hi all,

Just a very quick stupid question, I have a URC-8910 and am creating my upgrade file in RM. I notice there is a so called OLD or NEW 8910 - how do I know which I have.. mine is URC-8910B02

Many thanks

If you have/use the Remotemaster program, select each and take a look at it on the Layout Tab. You should spot the difference.

The "old" has a "donut ring" with the 4 arrow buttons around the "Select/OK" button, whilst the "new" has 4 separate buttons for each of the 4 arrow keys. The donut ring is usually disparagingly referred to as the "dreaded donut ring", as it was pretty much reviled in these circles, but the remote still works and is internally identical to the "new" so it doesn't really matter if you select the "wrong" one in the dropdown list in IR or in RM.

Many thanks for the reply, it seems I do have the newer one then, so will use the new extender.
Now that you mention it I do remember that mentioned when I bought the remote.
