I'm sorry you had to spend time to figure that out as I could have told you that. VCR/1162 is a combo code (which is why it uses 2-byte commands), it combines both VCR/0162 and VCR/0454, so obviously it contains more commands than either of the codes it combines.

Maybe you thought I was suggesting that you actually use VCR/0162 instead of VCR/1162 as your main setup code, that was not what I was suggesting. I was merely suggesting that you use VCR/0162 for your keymoves instead of VCR/1162. The obvious benefit is that it uses one less byte but there's also a slim chance that it might have generated a slightly different signal.

Works in PV-V4620. Also valid in setup code 1362 and Panasonic MIX combo.

OK, I finally got around to looking at the back of my VCR. It is a PV-V4622, so we know that it works with that.

If I understand my VCR (PV-V4620) correctly (a big IF), leaving it on ch3 might well have the consequence that the clock will no longer set itself  after a long power failure. I can’t take down my VCR, now, to confirm, as I’m in the process of revising an old upgrade, but next thunderstorm will tell. Whether this is important or not is a matter of preferences.
