Please take several steps back and describe what it is that you're trying to do and with which remote or remotes?

If you're using upgrade files from our file section, please provide links to them.

I downloaded the Comcast Xfinity X1 upgrade from the web site .It worked great on my OFA 10820N. Using remote master I got it to work . I took output and added it to IR ex uploaded to remote It worked perfect. Problem came when I went to get a new 10820B I had still in box . This was a OFA 10820B model. I opened up remote master grabbed the upgrade picked the RDF for URC-10820B. Remote master came back with different coding because the remote is offset by 2 bits from the 10820N. I moved the output to IR-ex and uploaded it to the 10820B remote . None of the buttons worked. I sent the upgrade codes from both 10820N and 10820B. I am doing something wrong or is this upgrade being decoded wrong?

You're still using old tools and not using them correctly. Forget about IR.exe and choosing RDF files, etc. RMIR is the program that replaced it.

Read this wiki article and any others that look interesting to you:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/wiki/index.p ... y_Is_It%3F

I've never heard of a URC-10820B remote, but if you download it using RMIR, it will identify it.

Download the latest copy of RM/RMIR from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/contro ... oteMaster/

And be sure to run setup.vbs before trying to use it.

So how did RMIR identify the URC-10820B? Is it just the regular URC-10820 ?

a popup screen came on and asked me to pick one of the remotes.

Asked to please pick which one matched best from list. I picked 10820
URC6820
URC8820
URC10820

What I found confusing was how it knew which one I had because the 10820 comes in B and N.
There was no letter after the numbers .

I picked 10820 and it worked.
I would like to try in the future using a 10820N to see if it drops the N .

Anyway thank you for your help.

I going to do is read up on all this RMIR information.

All first series OFA remotes to be release end b00, if later they change something it might end b01. The OP just left off the digits at the end.

The URC-10820 and URC-10820N have different signatures, so RMIR can tell them apart. There is no such thing as a URC-10820B, your remote is just the regular URC-10820.

The reason RMIR offers you 3 choices is because the URC-6820, URC-8820 and URC-10820 are all the same internally, so RMIR can't tell those apart. That's why you get access to additional device modes using RMIR with the 6-device URC-6820 and the 8-device URC-8820, because both of them can access the full 10 devices of the URC-10820.

The 10820 B00, 8820 B00 and 6820 B00 have the same firmware but can be differentiated easily when you can see them because they have 10, 8 or 6 device buttons.

The 6 device button remote, has the internal storage for 10 devices, so it would be said to have 4 phantom devices.

The 10820 B00 and 10820N pretty much look the same, and the battery covers where the model number is printed fit both remotes, so when you have both models it can be very confusing.

Our software can tell the difference via the signature. If I recall correctly, on the front of the remote the "O" in Oneforall on the 10820N is Black, while the "O" on the 10820B is Red.

Hope that helps
