4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC 8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? no
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? no
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? no
Tried the D10 file download, no luck, I'm missing something.

In order to try one of our D10 files, you would have had to ...
a) downloaded the file
b) opened it using either KM or RM
c) re-configured it for the URC-8910
d) copied it over to IR
e) used IR to create a WAV file
f) loaded the WAV file using the remote's modem
That's a lot to assume that a beginner would know how to do, so if that isn't what you did, could you describe what you really did.

And did you understand about the unit codes associated with Directv?

I would say the most common issue people have with either Dish or DirecTV Receivers is that they can be set to accept RF or IR signals and they also implement remote address pairing. So, the first thing you should do is make sure your receiver is set to respond to IR commands then check which remote pairing address it will respond to.

DirecTV D1x, H2x, HR2x, R1x and R2x series (addr 1-8)" was created by mdavej and contains device upgrades for all eight possible addresses. Coincidentally enough, they are also formatted for your remote.
