1994 macro delay

I am using a 1994, and extender 1. Have device key macros, and have discovered the need for the delays, as the TV takes too long to be ready for the input change. Searched forum and found info on delay protocols, and am having trouble getting the delays to take effect in my macro.

Heres what I have done, perhaps I have misunderstood the procedure, or am missing a step?

In IR, I have added:

Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FB (S3C80)
00 00 01 E4 03 C2 C6 C0 00 00 0A FE 1A FC 2A FA
AF
End

...as a protocol, and:

Upgrade code 0 = 1C 50 (TV/1104)
FB 00 01
End

...as a device.

I have added a key move in IR:

Cbl/Sat Phantom1 <n/a> TV 1104 $30 144. Tried $10 and $20 as well. No delays observed.

Thanks for any and all help...I am taking baby steps... :-)

That should work the way you have it but I do have to ask the basic question, did you put the Phantom1 in the macro where you want the delay and is it in a macro that runs in CBL/SAT device mode?

Thanks Nils! heres the macro: (I assume it runs in CAB/SAT devicce mode. Isn't this macro global?)

VCR button: =

TV;POWER;TV/VIDEO[A/B];SAT;Phantom1;VCR;POWER;TV;TV/VIDEO[A/B];1;VCR

thanks

The macro is global, however the Phantom1 keymove you created for the pause is not. What I think Nils was getting at is that you have to be in CBL/SAT mode for the pause to work by pressing Phantom1. But judging from that macro it looks like you are already doing that.

Seems to me that that should work so I don't know why. The only possibility that I can think of is that extender 1 overrides it somehow maybe how it handles registers or something but I am not sure since I don't have the source for the extender.

Since you obviously need the delay, in the interim, try creating a generic pause until we can understand and fix this. Delete the keymove on phantom1 and create a macro on phantom1 with a half dozen or so Shift-Phanto4's in it. It does not matter what button/phantom you use as long as it has nothing defined on it and it is not phantom1 within phantom1.

This particular pause protocol is too generic for any of that to matter. It is compatible with old and new S3C80 remotes with or without any of the extenders.

I also don't spot the problem from the info in this thread.

Jeff, You should post the eeprom image to the diagnosis folder. We may spot something by opening it with IR ourselves that we can't spot from the description.

I think this thread is about an extender that doesn't allow macro nesting, so the above idea wouldn't work.

"I think this thread is about an extender that doesn't allow macro nesting, so the above idea wouldn't work."

That would explain why the 6 shift/phantom4s didn't work either.

I will upload the EEPROM image and post when I have done that.

I have uploaded the image from EEPROM to the yahoo files diag area. Let me see if I can link this properly.

See Posting links to Yahoo files to find out how to create the link properly.

There are 2 problems with your link:
1. You used the wrong URL
2. You included a space before the closing ]

I can't seem to get the 'hide the url' part and "click here" part right, but I think the link works. I must just be too dense for this stuff...I am not a programer...I know, I know...patience...and I never give up....sometimes I just need little pointers. I edited the post trying to get the click here 9 times

thanks all

I looked at your IR eeprom dump and I am confused. In an earlier post you said the pause was on CBL/SAT Phantom1 and you had a SAT in the macro before the Phantom1. Looking at your file the Phantom1 keymove is in CBL/SAT but before the Phantom1 in the VCR macro you have AUX1 (3rd line). Since there is nothing on Phantom1 in AUX1 it will not do anything.

Change the AUX1 (line 3) in the VCR macro to CBL/SAT and it should work.

But that isn't what is in the file you posted.

The VCR macro in the file you posted is the only macro that uses Phantom1, but it is quite different from the above and uses Phantom1 while in AUX1 mode, not SAT mode, so it won't work.

I didn't yet look past that to see if there are other problems.

Nils..sorry..you are right, I changed it a couple of times before I uploaded it  ......now it reads....

TV; POWER; CBL/SAT; PHANTOM 1; AUX1; POWER; TV/ VIDEO; VCR; POWER; TV; TV/VIDEO; 1; VCR

And....tada! Now it works! Thanks for all of your help, Nils, John, Greg etc.... I am truely greatful for all of your help and non-judgmental patience with this (little bit slow) newbie.

FYI. I have deleted the file in the Diag area of Yahoo.

Thanks again for all of your help.
