JP1 Remotes

I've being following the steps (posted here: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 7534#p67534) to convert a SonicView 360 RMDU file from RemoteMaster to RIDGen. However I think I am missing a step.

Everything goes as planned per the instructions, except the instructions are not so clear on step:

5) Run RIDGen. Copy the "Protocol" and "Device Number" fields from RM to RIDGen

I assume Protocol = "Protocol", not "Protocol ID". So, I copy "RC-5" to RIDGen as "RC5" -- could this be my mistake by typying in "RC5" instead of "RC-5"?

Next I assume "Device Number" means "Protocol Parameters Device 1:" Don't know. So I assume yes, so I copy Protocol Parameter Device 1 number, which is "15". So I copy "15" over to RIDGen Device.

Step 6) I tab over in RM to the funtion tab and copy the "EFC" number for "zero" over to RIDGen in the first line, which corresponds to 0 in RIDGEN and place it under EFC in the first line.

Hit the button in RIDGen "MakeHex" ....this is where things go wrong for me.....

I do not get anything not even "0's" or "1's" for Initial Bits or Final Bits. I do get "0's and 1's" for Repeated Bits.

I can't go onto step 7 since I don't get these initial bits and final bits to show up.

Am I missing a irp file?

Any help would be greatful.. I would like to learn how to do this so I can keep my ReplayTV unit alive.

I assume you are using this RMDU file:

I just created the following RID file based on that file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=7940

The RC5 protocol only has a repeating portion, it doesn't have an initial portion, but this seemed to cause a problem for RIDGen, so I simply copied the repeat bits to the initial section and that seemed to fix it.

Yes, I was using the SV 360 rmdu file that was posted.

Question - As I try to replicate your approach, I did button #2 and come up with a different value that what your file shows.

Protocol: RC5
Device: 15
Button #2 EFC: 175

Repeated bits came out to: 10=000100=*

Your file come out to: 01=000*100+

I just want to learn how to do it correctly or maybe am doing something wrong.

OK.. I think I figured it out... I also need to copy from the RemoteMaster OBC numbers over to the RIDGen OBC column as well. Once I did that, I was able to replicate your file.

You don't need to use both OBCs and EFCs, either one will do, but you are correct, I used OBCs.

But if I only need to use OBCs or EFCs, then when I use EFC without the OBC, I got a different value than you did.

Just from a learning perspective, which should I use to get the correct codes?

Now, I'm going to figure out/search how to download from my URC-10820N remote and create a RMDU file, so I can create a RID file.
