ok, i've figured out how to use extenders & remap keys & all kinds of stuff on other remotes, but this replay 5k remote just doesn't want to do what i want it to. basically, all i want to do is turn two of the original keys into something else (remap) because there is never any time i'll ever use the original ones for what they were for - & i want to do it without anything else changing as far as it's use (no shift-whatever). i want to leave all the factory keys where they are now, except changing the "display" key into the 30 second skip -- efc 003 -- obc 38 -- (not quick skip, just a straight 30 second skip..... i want to leave the quick skip as is) and turn the mute into the input select button -- efc 075 -- obc 41 --(mine's a 5040, so CA is not input select - i want it on one button so i want to put it on mute, since those two buttons are basically a waste of button landscape in stock config). if anyone's had any luck remapping one of these, i'd appreciate it if you could send me a dump config of a 5xxx remote remapped like that (with the tv set to type 250). i've just been smashing my head against the wall trying everything & nothing else works for me. if you can make this into a dump i can just upload into the remote & email to me, i'd appreciate it (to whomever it may concern) -- savage_american@hotmail.com -- thankx

If that's all you want to do, you don't need the extender, just create an upgrade (in either KM or RM) using any device mode except TV and load it into the remote. Just remember to assign the new upgrade code to the Replay device button.

i've tried it - remember, this is a replay 5040 remote - it doesn't normally support keymoves to my knowledge, & that's why it has to have the extender....... or at least that's what you said (well, i think it was you anyhow who wrote the extender for it, i don't remember now because i've pulled my hair out trying to figure it out - sometime after my sanity went out the window, my thoughts were of doing the same with the remote itself.) -- i've got a URC8800 i like well enough for most stuff, but - i've gotten used to the position of certain buttons on the factory replay remote (& really, with those buttons remapped, i don't have any use for any other functions unless i'm doing something way outside the ordinary). this is why i was hoping someone who's got a replay 5000 remote could do this & then shoot me the dump of the remote so i could just upload it to mine (& maybe figure out where the hell i've went wrong). the best i've been able to do when trying to do keymoves on the replay remote, is to basically make any buttons i'm trying to do keymoves on totally useless. i can see they're sending out some kind of code, but it's not making anything happen on anything. (i can look at the diode with a camcorder & see data's being sent out, but of course, it's all greek to my equipment)

You are correct that the R5k remote doesn't support KEYMOVES, but it does support UPGRADES, there's a big difference.

All you need to do is open up one of the ReplayTV upgrades using KM or RM, then select the R5k remote, then re-arrange the buttons to your hearts content. When you are done, copy the upgrade over to IR and re-load your remote.

Are you saying that KM doesn't work for you at all? If you want help with KM you'll have to specify what issues you are having.
