hello this might be the newbiest post but i download latest RM extracted it to a folder tried to install. the dos window pops up and disappears....
now is Key and RM the same type of prog, they both do the same thing? Which one would be more user friendly to use with the Slingbox.
thanks all!

Normally speaking, KM (Keymap Master) and RM (Remote Master) are indeed interchangeable, but RM is the only one that can handle the Slingbox, so you should stick with RM and figure out what went wrong with your installation.
Hopefully Greg (the author) will be along to address any detailed questions.

What jumps right out at me is that with RM there really is no install process other than to copy it, the RDF's and maps and images to folders. I have not done it in awhile but the setup.jar requires java and will create the folders for you but you.
The reason you may be getting the dos box jumping up is because you don't have the Java runtime installed. You can find it here

Have you read RemoteMaster's
Readme.html. particularly the
Getting Started section?
Which tutorial are you referring to? Please provide a link, and try to point out exactly which step you have questions about. It's hard to tell from what you are asking.

You need the latest RDF zip file, which must be unzipped. THis is also stated in the Getting Started section of the Readme.html. It even has a link to where you can get it.

Extract them all and then you don't have to worry about it. Same with the maps and images.

i must be a moron, i extracted all from what i dloaded here
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=1948
still so no rdfs found. then it gives me a choice to browse for it but nothing is in there. but when i open the folder manually after i close everything i see all the rdfs when i open up the folder where i extracted it from.

RM wants you to select the folder in which you've unzipped the RDF .zip file. It will only show you folders, it won't show you what is in the folders.
