Any JP1 remote will do. The 8910 or 8811 are learners, so if you have a Pioneer Service remote, you can learn and decode the signals. I am unaware of any Pioneer DVR Service remote upgrades in the file section here, but if you find the signals you need either here or over at RemoteCentral in a ccf file, they can certainly be converted to work in any JP1-family remote. It sems to me like you real issue is fiinding the codes you want.

We've discussed Pioneer service signals here before (but maybe it wasn't DVR).

IIRC, they are like ordinary Pioneer signals, but intentionally have an error in the function check byte (I assume to make them harder to reproduce). That doesn't make them much harder.

I don't recall whether anyone has done it yet with a JP1 remote, but I expect the information is available and it shouldn't matter too much which JP1 remote you choose.

You might want to choose the 8910 in case there is some problem or question in setting up the signal. Several of the experts here have 8910's and could check any problem .ir file on their own remote. 8910's are also easily available (most of the time) from Rob at a very good price.

Here's a Pioneer DVD Service remote upgrade. I don't know whether it will have any applicability to your DVR.

Discussed in THIS and THIS threads.

Edit: I guess this is what you're looking for, on reflection. I was thinking you meant a Hard Disc Recorder, which USED to be called DVR but is now PVR, while a DVD-recorder is in fact a DVR.
