Problem convert upgrade using Pioneer mix

Post by jeajea »

I am trying to create a OARUSB04G extender 1.04 upgrade for my Pioneer DVD player from my upgrade for an Insignia 67100 extender 3.03. When I change the Remote to OARUSB04G extender 1.04 the protocol parameters get cleared (and it won’t operate the remote).
This looks a lot like I saw here

The root cause is an error in the 3X473X47 RDF files for Extender 3.03 and 3.02 of the Insignia 67100 remote. It lists the Pioneer Mix executor as 007E:3 but it should be 007E:4. (The RDF files for Extender 1.00 and 1.01 are also incorrect.) The OARUSB04G contains variant 5 of the 007E executor. RMIR has trouble converting a variant 4 upgrade to variant 5 when it thinks it is converting from variant 3.
As a quick check, I edited your RMDU file from

Code: Select all

Protocol.variantName=3
to

Code: Select all

Protocol.variantName=4
and it then seems to convert correctly.
Although in general I prefer to not make any changes in SourceForge to extender RDF files, I will change these 4 RDF files. I suspect upgrades generated while using the incorrect RDF files will cause conversion problems even after the RDF files are updated.

I edited a copy of my RMDU file and changed Protocol.variantName to 4. It
appeared to convert properly but still doesn’t operate the DVD player. In the 67100 file the fixed data is
FixedData=3A 66 FA 00 00 0A
In the converted file the fixed data is
FixedData=3A 0A 66 65 C5 0A
And
Protocol.variantName=5

I was able to create a working upgrade.
I found that the remote 1571 setup code allowed most of the buttons to work.
I download the remote with code 1571 active on DVD2
I used RMIR create missing upgrades to make a 1571 upgrade.
I saved the upgrade to a file and then loaded the upgrade into the remote to verify it still worked.
Using a screen print from the 67100 upgrade I corrected some functions that were wrong and added functions that were missing.
I changed the setup code to 2571 and saved the new upgrade to a different file.
I loaded the new upgrade on the OARUSB04G and tested it.
My working upgrade
