Rat shack 2116 AND gefen dvi switcher

Post by wvudrj »

Have a radio shack 2116 and just got a gefen 2x1 DVI switcher.
With the included remote I Learned the codes for input 1 and 2 to the 2116. The learned codes work fine but are not included in macros.
From there I created a new device with only 2 buttons. by entering the hex codes etc on the appropriate protocol. The created device has the wrong info for the buttons. Any one can help? Here are the codes

Input 1: Protocol nec1, obc=22, Hex=97, EFC=118
Input 2: Protocol nec1, obc=23, Hex=17, EFC=122

The created device is as follows:

Upgrade Code 0 = 80 00 (Video Acc/0000)
5A 00 81 00 FF FF 00 97 17 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
End
The buttons are now altered and I don't know why AND they don't work

You neglected to mention what device codes these signals use, and you also neglected to program those device codes into the upgrade you created.

Sometimes the columns in the learned signals tab in IR get squished (made very small) and you can't really tell that the column is there. There's a device column and that's the information that you're missing. Find that info and we'll help you with the rest of it.

That means you need to enter 5 in the device code field, in either KM or RM, whichever you were using.

Now in IR I have Video device 0000 created
button #1 hex 97 efc 118
button #2 hex 17 efc 122
On the general tab put this device on the auxilliary button
now with remote in hand won't control switcher.
Learned signal still will control but again these won't go into macros

This is going to take too long trying to guess each step that you might have missed. Could you just post your IR file (with the learned signals present) in the Diagnosis Area folder and then PLEASE post a link to it.

I deleted your link because it doesn't work and was messign up the way this thread is displayed. Please read the sticky thread regarding posting links to Yahoo files.

Here's the link for others that want it: jay ht with extend it.txt

I looked at the file and I can't see that you did anything wrong this time, that upgrade should work. One word of advice though, to save memory space, would be to put the two functions on buttons other than the number buttons. I would recommend the CH+ and CH- buttons. If you assign a function to one number button, you have to assign them all (which KM does for you), which is why you see "00" assigned to all the other numeric buttons.

Try changing the macros so that the AUX;# commands are sent last, i.e.:

SHIFT-DVD: TV;7;AUDIO;4;DVD;AUX;2
SHIFT-SAT: TV;7;AUDIO;2;SAT;AUX;1

If they still don't work, try holding the button (Shift-DVD, etc) so that the last signal (for the Aux device) repeats.

Please...
a. Read the sticky thread that explains how to post links.
b. Post the old IR file with the learned signals present so we can see exactly what they look like.
c. Post your current IR file so we can see what your upgrade and macros look like.

Questions...
1. When you use the OEM remote to select inputs, do you need to hold the button down or is a quick press sufficient.
2. Same question for when you use your JP1 remote, does a quick press of the button work or do you need to hold it down for the input to be selected.
3. If a long press is required, have you tried using the duration feature of the device combiner?
4. Have you tried altering the position of the input select commands in your macros?
