Yamaha RX-A780 Help

Post by timewalker »

Hey all. I just bought a refurbed Yamaha RX-A780 to replace my current Yamaha RX-A730.
I have it all set up, but of course I want to use my URC-8910 to control it. Currently I have macros set up to select the direct input on the receiver and the corresponding input on the projector so my wife just has to hit M1, M2 or M3 for Xbox, Fire Cube, or Kodi.

Looking at the remote for the 780, I don't see discrete input buttons (just Tuner, Net, USB and Bluetooth). Are there codes for this in an RM or RMIR file?
A search leads me to believe that the RX-V685 files are the same as the 780. I found a "Yamaha RX-V685 MAIN.rmdu" file in the archives that looks like it has discrete inputs. However, I uploaded it to my 8910, and tried a bunch of buttons. The PHONO input worked. The only other response I got was “REM ID MISMATCH” on the front panel.

Thanks!

Try the following zip file:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=14622

I assume you're just using the main zone, so try the Yamaha RX-A3030 Main zone.rmdu file contained in the zip, this has lots of discrete codes in it.

Thanks. That one hasn't given me the ID MISMATCH error. Power and volume work (I was able to reload the other file and get power and volume to work as well).
I assigned the AV inputs to the number keys, and they work. BUT, that file didn't have the HDMI inputs. The pdf in the zip file shows the codes for HDMI 1-7, but I have no idea how to translate that into the rdmu.

This file has all the codes in it:

I have also modified the zip file to include a spreadsheet that converts all of the codes in those 2 PDFs into codes that you can use in JP1.

Oooh, that's a lot! Lol. I will dig into it over the weekend, and do my testing probably on Monday while the wife is at work. Will report back in later. Thanks Rob!

I think I have it all sorted out now. All of the inputs I need, macros adjusted so the wife can hit the buttons she was used to.

Thanks Rob!

Now to move the old Yamaha to the bedroom and the TEAC to my office and recose those remotes, lol...
