Obviously a minor bug, but I think I've got it. I started off by downloading the empty remote to RMIR — and I just noticed that as I was working on it, no "Disable Activities". So what I did was to do a "New" with RMT5D21 and Disable Activities was there! So I saved the file I was working on, and loaded it into the RMIR that I had just done the "New" RMT5D21, and now it's there. Strange, but solved.

I doubt the seller actually has the RMT8D21
So Lesson learned, and I have another remote
My seller has now given me a 100% refund. I don't think that Ebay's system allowed for a 50% refund. So I can't complain.

When I asked my seller if he could now dispatch a NS-RMT8D21, he said there were none left. All of a sudden, all the RMT8D21's disappeared from Ebay, except one. With this one, the trader is charging twice as much as the others, but it's still coming from China and so I wouldn't have to pay the massive shipping charges I get if I buy from the USA. I contacted the trader before ordering, and he confirms that it is a proper 8D21. Anyway it cost me £22.81 in total. Let's hope I get what I paid for! I think it's bad that no 8-device version was sold in Europe.but this is a decent price.

As for the NS-RMT5D21, there are loads of them on sale on Ebay UK, for under £10, it has 4 device buttons and the "5" refers its ability to also control volume and mute via a 5th device. Of course we can program and access 8 devices with our JP1 cable and RMIR! There are few JP1 remotes these days, with are as flexible as the "5", and it's a cheap way into using JP1 and RMIR!

You can't get the URC-3680 in the UK unless you pay silly money to have it sent from the USA. Or, in its other guise as Insignia NS-RMT8D21, which I'm getting sent from China. Locally we can get the European version, URC-3661 in UK, but that only has 6 device buttons.

When the OFA version of urc3680 was sold on Amazon it was never called the 3680. And when I do a ebay search for essential 8 antimicrobial remote four show up. Yes I'm in the states. I think most people list on ebay by original name not model # shown in the battery compartment.

I have four of the urc-3680, all bought from Best Buy on-line. Two I just notice have sticker on the front it has "Made in China" written on it supposedly to where Insignia is supposed to be. But in battery compartment it also has written The Netherlands? I removed the sticker partially to reveal Insignia that was blackened out with paint or marker. The black isn't remnants of the sticker which is all silver on the back of it.

I'm curious if anybody has tried this ONN remote from Walmart.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/ONN-6IN1-UNI ... 3679466149

Layout is very similar to a URC-3660 although a few keys are located differently. But the three Activity keys appear to be missing (unless they are APP1, APP2 & APP3). It is in stock at my Walmart, so for $15, I might just take a chance on it if nobody else has tried it yet.

I gave away one of my 3660 ONN equivalents to my church but I could replace it with this if it is JP1. I wouldn't need the Activity keys for that.

I would like to hear more about it, if you get one.

Sadly, no, the ONN remote that I linked to is not JP1. Luckily, I was able to slide one out of its box and check the battery compartment without spending the $15. I suppose that it is possible that it shares some other user programmable features with the 3660, but the flexibility unleashed with JP1 is not to be had.

I just solved my desire to have a spare again by snagging an authentic ONN 3660 on eBay. The listing included a pic of the battery compartment confirming the JP1 connector. There are several others there that appear to be the real thing including one that also has a pic of the battery compartment for $7 plus shipping.
Just out of curiosity, there is a listing for a URC-3640 (4 device) that appears identical to the 3660 or 3680 except for the number of devices. No pic of the battery compartment though. I don't need it (assuming my purchase is good), but it is an interesting deviation and could have satisfied my need if JP1.

I bet the Walmart remote could be modified to work with JP1, if someone were so included to try. Do I think it's worth the effort? No.

That occurred to me. If I were desperate, I might try, With the incoming eBay purchase, I will have six 3660's and one 3680 with 4 different RMIR files (plus one for the church). All my home systems have a Roku device and all behave pretty much the same way, virtually eliminating confusion. Two of them have Denon receivers (but different). I have several shifted functions on our main system that I don't tell my wife about but are useful to me.

I finally managed to get a genuine Insignia NS-RMT8D21 from Ebay UK from a Chinese supplier. It arrived this morning. So far all I've done with it is to put some batteries in and download its default contents using RMIR. It cost me £23.77 (UK money) including postage. Yes I've seen cheaper headline prices but they all involve postage from the USA which makes it very expensive to buy that way. The seller was very slow in dispatching the item, there was a week between the Tracking Number being allocated, and the item received by SpeedPak, which only seemed to happen after I sent a nagging message. But it's here now. I'll be setting it up later. I would ideally like to load my URC-3661 setup into it, but I don't think that's possible and I might have to do it from scratch. We'll see. Sadly for those outside the USA there don't seem to be any more on Ebay which don't involve postage from USA, so let's just say I got lucky this time.
