Tivo upgrade not working on 15-1994 w/extender 5

I reciently added a Tivo to my system and am attempting to upgrade my 15-1994 to control it. When I install the new device and protocol everything works great. Then when I activate the extender 5, the unit will shut down when I execute the Tivo Macro. My macro is quite simple. switch my reciver to the right input, set the controls for the Tivo, and change the input on my TV.

Has any one had any issues with using extender 5 and the TIVO protocol for a 15-1994?
