creating upgrade for Sony combo

Hello
I'm programming URC-8060 for a friend who has Sony VCR/DVD combo. After some learning I found that the protocol is Sony20. As I found later, the suitable setup code is DVD 0864.
As far as I can see, all the commands for both DVD and VCR modes are the same, but I have to send VCR command before any VCR-related command and DVD command before any DVD-related command.
VCR 'prefix' command is Sony20, 26.83, 105
DVD 'prefix' command is Sony20, 26.83, 106

Question I have - what is the best way to configure it? Do I need to assign VCR 'prefix' code to VCR device button and so on?

The easiest way would be to designate a button for "VCR" and a button for "DVD", then use them appropiately in any macros that you create.

If you use the extender, which isn't advisable if your friend is not a JP1 user, you can program those macros to the device buttons themselves.
