Pioneer 2 devices on each code (dv-55)
hI
On my pioneer home cinema dvd (dv-55 uk) The device codes comes up as two seperate ones on the learned signals. I noticed that on some in the files section (cant get these to work) that these are too, some that rob made for example. How do i program these into keymap, i can only prgram one device.
Thanks JOhn

It is typical for Pioneer functions to be sent as two seperate IR signals for one function.
There are several different Pioneer protocols available in KM. They differ primarily in the types of combinations of signals that they can do. I don't remember the details of which one can do what. Hopefully you can figure that out from the protocol specific help available in KM.
You probably need to examine several different combination signals generated by different functions of your DVD remote in order to see the full range of combination, before selecting the appropriate protocol.
You may find it easier to start with a Pioneer DVD upgrade made by someone else, in order to see how it does the combination signals. I'm sure there are some available.

How many different device codes do you see? If there's just one, use the "Pioneer 2CMD" protocol. If there's more than one, you can often get by using the "Pioneer 3DEV" protocol, but there are some OBC combinations that it can't handle (and KM will tell you when this occurs). In this case, switch to the "Pioneer 4DEV" protocol (that I wrote, so you will always need a protocol upgrade) as it handles every OBC combination.

More than one set of devices on one remote?
Thanks for all your help (esp robman and johnsfine
I got the dvd remote on my dv55 working on the pioneer dvd protcol. The numbered buttons have work with the device set and the cmd1(obc) set at 161 but the play, pause etc seem to have a first obc of 160. Is there any way i can program these onto one device?
It is quite an extensive remote with multiple functions (supposed to be a learning one but the remote dont work - three friends have them the learning just dont work)

I should have looked closer at your post to see that you were programming a DVD as this is yet another variation of the Pioneer protocol where the device in part1 and part2 of the signal is different.
There are several ways to program this. The main way is to use the "Pioneer DVD" protocol, as you have done. If this results in a protocol upgrade, you could try switching to "Pioneer DVD2". The DVD2 version is really the "Pioneer MIX" protocol with the second byte filled in for you. The only reason to use the DVD2 version is if it saves you from needing a protocol upgrade, but the device upgrade will be twice the size, so there might not be any savings.
If you find that some buttons don't work (which is unlikely for a DVD player) this may be because they don't follow the DVD protocols rules, in which case you would need to switch to "Pioneer MIX" where you will have to specify which buttons use the 2-part signal.
Btw, don't blame us for this mess, the engineers over at Pioneer must have a really sick sense of humor!

mmmm!
Sorry for being a pain. All of the functions have two signals its just half of the first signals obc is 160 and half of the first signal has a 161 obc. I can get both to work if i use pioneer dvd and set the cmd1 to either 160 to get those buttons working or vice versa for 161 . but i dont know how to set so some of the buttons first obc is 160 and second half 161 in the same upgrade. Im sorry if im not making any sense
I tried using the mix protocol and putting cmd1 as 160 and cmd2 as 161 but nothing worked.

In that case, you need to use the "Pioneer MIX 4-Cmd" protocol.

Got it
Thanks i needed to use the pioneer mix, the ones that werent working i changed the byte 2 to 1 and i got em all bar one working. Thanks for the help.
If i use the key mover function on my 9960 does it take up the "leaning memory" or do i have a limit on key moves seperate?
Also has anyone ever got a netgear mp101 programmed it uses protocol rc6-6-32... think it is simialar to the sky protocol rc6-6-20 i think that is. Or maybe I have to wait until a protocol is made?
Well im off to bed been on 12hr nights.

You should post those new unrelated questions in threads of their own as they'll get missed in here.

Re: Got it
The limit on KeyMoves is seperate from the limit on learning.wallace4793 wrote: If i use the key mover function on my 9960 does it take up the "leaning memory" or do i have a limit on key moves seperate?
rc6-6-32 is no more similar to rc6-6-20 than either of them are to the original rc6.wallace4793 wrote: Also has anyone ever got a netgear mp101 programmed it uses protocol rc6-6-32... think it is simialar to the sky protocol rc6-6-20 i think that is. The protocol has been made and posted. It just hasn't gotten a name in KM or RM and the translation from device and subdevice numbers to fixed data hasn't been documented clearly.
I went looking for a Media Center upgrade to point to as an example and instead found an upgrade for the Netgear MP101 (you might have saved time by looking there yourself).

If you need any more help with that, we'll need more info from your decoded signals (as I said earlier on this subject).
