Programming the 8810 device Keys

Post by firefighter12035 »

My question is does anybody know how to program the device keys to switch to the correct vido input without having to push the TV/Vid key.
I have a Rca 52" wide screen and a direct tv satellite that is hooked in to the vid 1 input and a fortec receiver that is hooked into the vid 2 input. I have a OFA 8810 and have tried the learning keys but can only get it to learn to the L1 and so on keys. I am new on the Jp1's so am not very familiar with some of the terms used in IR.exe any help would be appreaciate

In order to put commands on the device buttons, you need to install an extender. Then you would define a macro on the SAT button that would
  1. Switch temporarily to TV mode
  2. send the TV/Vid command
  3. Switch to SAT mode
To read up on extenders, see https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1678

Also, as an interim step you CAN assign macros to shifted device buttons. Once you go to the extender just remove the shift check-box.

Unless ALL your devices have discrete commands you can get out of sync using macros on device keys with no way of selecting the offending device directly without activating the macro sequence again -- which may be out of sync, etc, unless you are very carefull designing the macro or you have provided a way to select a device directly without running the macro on the device button again.

Using shifted device keys always gives you the ability to select a single device without running a macro.
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Help!!

Post by firefighter12035 »

Ok I have loaded the extender and can not figure out how to do what I want it to do. If anybody would have an example of what I want as far as the Macros and keymoves then maybe I could figure how to do it myself. Thanks in advance for any help
