? on 2K extender with Walmart 8810w remote

Post by wbrells »

I've just installed the 2K extender for my Walmart 8810w remote, and the conversion seemed to go OK. HOWEVER, after IR downloading from the updated remote, I don't seem to have either the LKP or DKP special protocols (01F9) available (they are both "greyed out"). On the other hand, the DSM, ToadTog, and Pause protocols DO appear to be available... Is this behavior to be expected and, if so, can the LKP and/or DKP protocols be made available with this extender?

LKP and DKP for 8810 extender

Post by johnsfine »

I haven't included LKP or DKP automatically installed in any of the extenders I wrote (I assume you're using one I wrote). If you find the right version of LKP or DKP it should be pretty easy to add through IR.EXE's protocols and devices tab.

I've never tried LKP nor DKP myself. I'm not sure where they can be downloaded from.

Hopefully someone who knows will answer (but you titled your post in a way that would make them think you're asking a question I should answer).

Once installed there is no difference in behavior between special protocols that are automatically installed with the extender and those that are added later.

I just found the file LDKP-6012-8810w.zip file in the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... Protocols/ directory. According to the README.TXT file, this special protocol is essentially a combination of the DSM protocol and the LKP/DKP protocols. It does NOT, apparently, require an extender. (I'll need to look a little deeper to see if it CAN be used with an extender.)

It MAY turn out that this new "combo" protocol is all that I really need. If so, I can - hopefully - reload my remote using the non-extended IR image that I created before installing the extender...

The one that works with this extender is in the special protocols section at Yahoo. It is called ldkp-1.3.zip

This one will not work with the extender. Try the one I linked above
