Getting a URC-6960

Post by olaughlj »

I just ordered a URC-6960, and would like to know if there is anything I can do or help with to help get an extender made for it.

Thanks,
James

OK so i have gotten the 6960 and was wondering if anyone knew if the the extender for the 9660 would work with my 6960, as it appears the 6960 has 2K of eprom just like the 9660.

Thanks,
James

Extenders are not your immediate problem, I would wager. You first need an rdf, so tha IR can work with your remote in a meaningful fashion.

I'm not one of the guys who could figure it out if you needed to, but ... unless I'm mistaken, the 6960 is currently NOT supported by JP1 tools, since I see no rdf for it in the files. What do you get when you first download your remote to IR? It is possible that it gets recognized as a 9960, in which case you might be in luck, if they're identical internally. More likely, it will not be recognized by IR at all.

Posting that raw download file is, I believe, the first step to getting one of the experts to help create an rdf for you.

RM has a nice picture of the 6960 so I assume it supports it?

RM has a picture, but ther's no RDF in the latest RDF ZIP file, so I suspect John Fine added the picture in anticipation of it someday being required.

v1.24 of the RDFs includes the file OK60OK60 (URC-6960_6962 Kameleon).rdf. So I would say the URC-6960 is supported by IR and RM.

Capn Trips:
Is the font size of your signature portion getting smaller or is it just my eyesight?
