Build device Upgrade from scratch just knowing device code.

Post by Busa »

Hi,

JP1 User: Yes
JP1 Remote: URC-7541 2K
Device: Cable decoder Philips DCX6171

I start searching a device code for my new cable decoder.
Easy: JP1 Remote in search mode... cable decoder off.... I read the code.
My device code is 0292.
Very good BUT there is a lot of missing keys. :x
So, instead of adding a lot of keymoves I prefer build a new device from scratch.

My question is:
Knowing my JP1 Remote type and the device code found, How can I know the protocol and protocol parameters that I must put in Remotemaster. (I guess that it will be RC-5 or RC-6 for philips but...)
Knowing that info, the last job will be to try every EFC code. :lol:

Thanks!

CBL/0292 is RC-5 protocol including:
Device 10 with OBC <= 63
Device 10 with OBC > 63
Device 8 with OBC <= 63

Do the four arrow keys in CBL/0292 work for your cable decoder? If so then all three of the (listed above) half-device settings in CBL/0292 are correct for your device. If not, I assume at least the power toggle RC5:10:12 is correct, meaning the first one is correct.

To help get you started, I have created an upgrade file that will re-create the CBL/0292 code, which you can use to add missing OBCs.

I used the codes found in the URC-8060 Kameleon as the starting point for this as I assume that the Kameleon has more meaningfully named buttons.

Also, just FYI, the correct term for a code such as CBL/0292 is "setup code". The term "device code" is used to refer to the fixed codes encoded into the signal itself (eg, the 8 and 10 RC5 device codes referred to here).

While I have no personal use for the code, once you have it working correctly, you might want to upload your upgrade for others; so they don't have to recreate your work.

Or let Rob add/correct his preliminary upgrade. :wink:

By the way, You gave me the the solution and I thank you for that but I still don't know how can I find that setup code 0292 is RC-5 with device 8 and 10.

If it is not too hard, You can explain me. 8)
If it is too hard, I will ask you everytime I need this kind of informations! :wink:

Have a nice day...

You can get the answer to questions like this from the devices.xls spreadsheet...

Another way, of course, is to have a second JP1 learning remote to learn the commands from the first one set to the 0292 code.
