KM do not provide extender prompt for remotes with extender

Post by MajorWoody »

I am trying to use extender for urc-9910 but KM (v9.05) is not letting me to enter "YES" in the in-cell drop-down list.

Could you please help me to enable KM to recognize extender prompt?

KM does not distinguish between extender and non-extender files in general.

The only reason for that selectable option is for those few remotes (like the URC 6131) that use a different ("weird", unusual) keymove format than most UEI remotes, and in which the extender uses the "traditional" keymove format. In those cases, although any KEYMOVES generated by KM in one (unextended) vs. the other (extended) will be different, the device and protocol upgrades will be identical, hence you do not NEED the extender option in KM for your remote.

Build your upgrade in KM for the unextended remote and it will work fine. Your only limitation will be that you cannot build keymoves in KM for x-shifted buttons and for phantoms that are present only in the extender. For that you will have to build Keymoves in IR.

The extender support in KM isn't for the normal extenders. It's for the remotes that use an extender to provide "normal" JP1 functionality. This primarily concerns keymove formats and only currently affects the 6131 and Atlas remotes.
