DSM and URC 9960 B01

Post by klflote »

I'd like to program a series of device-specific macros (macros on phantom keys accessed via keymoves from each device). As I understand, there are two ways to do that: the DSM protocol, and various ways (new protocols or long key presses) using an extender. At this point I'd like to use DSM since it seems simpler than learning about extenders.

DSM is listed as a special protocol in the RDF for the 9960 B01 remote, but that choice isn't one of the remotes available in the special protocols spreadsheet. Is there something I can do to get this remote into the special protocols spreadsheet? Or does that remote not support DSM after all?

DSM is available in the 9960B01 extender, you're probably better off making that step. the way that the 9960B01 loads keymoves is different than other remotes and the protocol has to go back and find the keymove again. (previous remotes loaded the entire keymove, this one doesn't)

You could try to extract the DSM protocol from the V1.03 version of the extender and it would probably work. The V1.04 version will definitely NOT work. What you would do is load up the IR that ships with the 9960B01 extender V1.03 with IR, copy the protocol for DSM out of it and then put it into your IR configuration for the unextended remote.

no guarantees.

I forgot to mention that you need the DSM devcie as well. The protocol is 1FC, the device is TV/1103

here's the protocol that you need:

Code: Select all

Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FC (S3C8+) Device Specific Macro on Unextended 9960B01 and 6960B00
00 00 01 E4 07 0B E6 0C 10 E6 0D 07 C6 02 06 00
C6 04 0F 30 F6 10 6F C4 5A CA 06 CB 05 16 CA 00
C6 CC 00 2D E8 08 F6 0C 68 38 08 3A 0B A6 3E 3F
3B 08 87 43 2C 82 3E C4 3A F3 AF
End
here's the device you need for TV/1103

Code: Select all

FC 00 01
On the device, the device is TV/1103. remember to check the box that the protocol is greater than $FF

good luck, let us know if this works!

BTW, who is responsible for maintaining these added protocols for unextended remotes? The extender has DSM, LDKP, Pause and ToadTog built in, they all "should work" on these remotes (both the 9960B01 and the 6960B00) with the caveat that they must use V1.03 and not V1.04.
