Hello
I've built myself a Simple Parallel JP1 interface, and no matter what I do, I'm getting a "No Response From Remote" error when I run test configuration from ir.exe.
I'm attempting to use it with a URC6131N that I've modded myself. I've verified the pins go where they are supposed to using an LED.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Bridging pins 25 and 11 like is suggested in the guide, but then it says no response from the interface.
Bridging pins 3 and 4 on the JP1 end to see if I could get anything. No change.
What do I test next?

Are you sure you put the EEPROM chip in the right way around?dotbatman wrote:I'm attempting to use it with a URC6131N that I've modded myself. I've verified the pins go where they are supposed to using an LED.

With a new interface, a modified remote there sure is a lot to test.
I am not an electronics person. I buy all my interfaces and remotes from vendors, but even so everytime I work with my simple interface I face the "No Response from Remote" issue regularly.
Simple interfaces can be subject to voltage problems. I assume you've done all the battery tricks, weak batteries, no batteries, strong batteries. I have known good remotes a known good interface and I still really have to work to get my remotes to communicate with the PC via my simple interface. Some of my remotes require new batteries, some have to have the batteries removed, some have to have nearly dead batteries. I have one remote that needs to have fresh batteries overnight, and then the batteries have to be removed to get the interface to talk to the remote.
Good Luck

Sounds like you did it correctly. You can verify by putting batteries in the remote and doing a 981 reset. If you get 4 flashes, your EEPROM is good, if you get 2 short flashes and 1 long flash, your EEPROM is bad.
Once you've confirmed that your remote is good, try all of the different battery combinations. If you didn't have batteries in the remote when you tried to download, put some in. If you did, take them out. Etc, etc.

Okay, it looks like my EEPROM is good.
I thought I had gotten the six pin soldered correctly, but now my symptoms are the same as in this thread. I guess I'll be popping open the remote to double check soldering for hershey's kisses.

Well, back to the drawing board. I resoldered any spots that looked questionable on the 6pin and with 4 flashes telling me the EEPROM is good, I'm not quite sure what to do next.
I've tried the following battery combinations:
1. No batteries
2. One battery put in backwards, the other oriented properly.
3. Freshly charged batteries
4. The batteries that have been in the remote for two years (old)
5. A combination of 2 and 3.
1 and 2 just give the error, and 3-5 give the error and light on the remote blinks twice.
Any ideas?

Double check that the cable itself is constructed properly.
