Magnavox 32MD357B remote codes

I have checked the file section for some other Magnavox TVs, and get some traction with the TV code 0054. But still unable to get a bunch of the keys to work. Especially interesting in discrete codes, and tried for RC-5 code 018 for discrete on, but it does not work. Read some other places that it should, but those were old threads. Really appreciate any help. Thanks

If TV/0054 partially works, that implies that your TV uses the RC-5 protocol with a device code of 0, so what you could do is create some dummy upgrades that contain all 128 OBCs (ie, 0 thru 127) for this device code and test the buttons to see what they do.

However, be aware that there is some risk to doing this with TVs because sometimes you can accidentally stumble across codes that will do strange things to your TV. Most often these are just codes that bring up the service menus, so as long as you don't change any settings in the menus, you'll be fine, but sometimes the codes will do resets that are hard to recover from. So be warned that you are assuming some risk if you proceed.

At any rate, here are the OBCs that are part of TV/0054, so you can check off the codes that work.

After you do your 128 key test would you please give us a list of codes that don't work.

Have you run happened to have tried any upgrades that use NEC1 135,34
or Nec1 0, 153? I ask because all the official Magnavox TV/DVD upgrades are Nec1. Its not that uncommon for devices to respond to two different codes.

There are also some Magnavox DVD codes that use RC5 that might hold your answer.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I did start to use some dummy codes, but only did the 20s, and no luck yet. Will start a fuller test soon. Was concerned it may be some other type than RC-5, as Vicky infers. Will let you know how it goes.

ok, so i went through all of the codes, and i got most of them with RC-5 protocol. There is one big one i could not find -- the select button. Rob, most of the codes were different than the ones you had for 0054, but a few were the same. I also did not find any discrete codes, although it seems the CH+/- buttons turn the tv on from an off state. There were also 3 codes that registered with the TV, but could not find out what they did--likely DVD player- mine is broken so i dont use that.

So if anyone can figure the code for the Select, i would be deeply grateful.
