I just bought a Hughes DVR from Circuit City for only $99. I currently subscribe to DirecTV with Local Channels ONLY. It only costs $5 per month for this service. By replacing my existing DirecTV receiver with the Hughes TiVo unit, I got TiVo added to my local channels only service for only $5 more per month.
Also, the hardware swap was a cinch. I didn't really care about doing anything fancy with the new unit, so I just pulled the old receiver out, put the new one in and re-attached the old cables the same way they were.
Everything is set up and everything is working well. I thought the whole thing was a good deal, so I'm sharing the info with the group.
Also, I downloaded the Hughes DVR device codes from the PVR files folder at the Yahoo! JP1 group and they worked like a charm with my RCU810
. Hopefully this post will be of some service to others considering similar propositions.
